A Fan December 11, 2009, 2:54 am

I was a fan of Mr. McCallum at both Navy and with the Raiders. It was an honor to see him play and also hear what a first class person he was/is. I'm very glad to hear he is doing well and want to let him know he is definitely remembered fondly.

I served with LT McCallum in San Diego, at the Navy Recruiting District. He was always smiling, never failed to say hello and respond to questions, and sat patiently answering my questions as I, a Navy Journalist, compiled information about him for a story I later wrote for Navy Recruiter magazine. An absolutely class act. Loved to watch him play in the old Chuck Foreman style, too. My 9-year-old started his tackle football career this year and I was reminiscing about Napoleon McCallum. Nice to hear such a good person is a success.

Hey Napolean (We called him Nappy)
He was (Nappy) a Disbursing Officer aboard the Uss California and i was in the S-3 division and we all gave him a hard time about being a Wog, He would never say i love Bo Jackson no matter how hard we tried to make him say it.
Sincerely,
Lambert Wilson, Usn, Ret..

I was a team mate of Napoleon's at Milford High School back in 1981. He was one of the nicest people you could ever have as a friend and team mate.

A great ambassador for the USNA. I was there when he broke his leg while in the Navy - actually right in front of him on the sideline. Living in Vegas as a musician I hope to run into him sometime and tell him how entertaining and great he was. I'm wondering if he golfs with x Buffalo defensive captain Sherman White, a friend of mine out here.

I was at the Academy the night of the game. I was walking down the hallway, and all of a sudden you could hear people shout from the wardrooms. People were were freaking out. Everybody knew his career was over. We were crushed and terrified for him. But I was always proud that what they taught him at USNA helped him overcome and build a successful life off the field. A great guy.
