Dayton Valley GC near Reno - Nevada
Dayton Valley Golf Club is in the oldest town in Nevada - Dayton was settled in 1851, during the Gold Rush. The Arnold Palmer-designed golf course opened in 1991, but it's very much fixated on the future; $6 million has been poured into the facilities in recent years, including a complete clubhouse redo.
The course itself is very different from most tracks in the underrated High Sierras region. Instead of cool mountains and towering pines, you're playing down in a valley with wide-open fairways. With virtually no trees, the 7,218 yards can seem much longer, but Dayton Valley is a great change-of-pace course on a trip to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area.
