Dayton Valley Golf Club is a great change-of-pace course on a trip to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area

DAYTON, Nev. -- Dayton Valley Golf Club is in the oldest town in Nevada -- Dayton was settled in 1851, during the Gold Rush.

This Arnold Palmer design is very different from most tracks in the underrated High Sierras region. Instead of cool mountains and towering pines, you're playing down in a valley with wide-open fairways. With virtually no trees, the 7,218 yards can seem much longer, but Dayton Valley is a great change-of-pace course on a trip to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area.
