Contest: Win a round with long-drive champ Jamie Sadlowski in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS - Think you hit it long? Try going up against long-drive champ Jamie Sadlowski.
His driving prowess is well-known as he won the past two RE/MAX World Long Drive Championships. He won in 2009 with a booming 384 yard drive and picked up the title with a blast of 418 yards in 2008.
Still think you've got what it takes? Well, here's your chance to prove it: LasVegasGolf.com, Golf Channel and Adams Golf are giving away the opportunity to stay-and-play in Vegas - and maybe pick up a few long-drive pointers as well.
Visit www.golfchannel.com and click under "contests" for more information or to enter (or just click here). It's that easy. Beating Sadlowski, on the other hand, won't be.
UNLV golf team wins third event of the season
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) men's golf team, ranked 23rd in the nation, won its third team title of the year in mid-February by claiming the crown at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii.
It didn't come easy as the Rebels had to go to a playoff before beating Texas A&M. It was UNLV's third title and its fifth finish in the top five.
A final-round, 14-under-par effort moved the Rebels into the playoff spot, and UNLV won on the first playoff hole.
UNLV had three individuals in the top five as Derek Ernst shot 3-under 69 in the final round to finish second at 10-under 206. Brett Kanda tied for third at 9-under 207, and Kevin Penner finished fifth at 8-under.
Texas A&M's Andrea Pavan was the medalist, carding a 7-under-par 65 in the final round for a 204 total.
