ClubCorp Opens Bears Best Las VegasDALLAS (Jan. 15, 2002) ClubCorp, the world leader in delivering premier golf, private club, and resort experiences, announced today the official opening of Bears Best Las Vegas, a unique, daily fee golf course concept featuring hole replications of designs by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. The golf club is located in The Ridges, part of the exclusive Summerlin community about 20 minutes from the Las Vegas strip. The course is the first such project resulting from a 1998 joint venture agreement between ClubCorp and the Nicklaus companies to develop properties together. Bears Best Atlanta is scheduled to open this summer. The joint venture also has developed the Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park, Kansas, near Kansas City, and the Nicklaus Golf Club at Birch River in Dahlonega, Georgia, near Atlanta. These private clubs, featuring Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses, opened in 2001.
Jack Nicklaus selected and carefully maintained the integrity of each original hole. The clubhouse décor includes photos, plaques, and other items from the Golden Bears legendary career. The golf club also includes a premier practice facility and a golf academy that provides group and individual instructional clinics. Bears Best Las Vegas, specifically designed for group play and corporate entertainment, features a 3,000-square-foot dining and banquet facility and a 5,000-square-foot pavilion. The Bears Best staff provides professional tournament organization including transportation arrangements, hole contests, professional scoreboards, photography, and tournament awards and gift packages. Every group is accompanied on the course by a forecaddie who will assist with yardages and course information, repair ball marks, rake bunkers, clean clubs, and generally make the round more enjoyable for guests. The goal of the Bears Best properties is to provide the ultimate golf and entertainment experience, said Richard Ellis, managing director of Bears Best. This is an exciting time for ClubCorp and the Nicklaus companies. For more information about Bears Best, visit www.bearsbest.com.
