Red Rock Corridor FAQ

1. What area makes up the Red Rock Corridor?

The Red Rock Corridor is basically 48-mile stretch of land that runs from St. George, Utah to Mesquite, NV, which is about 75 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The area is a geological marvel and it gets its name from the red sandstone cliffs that pop up throughout the area. It is home to many state parks and more than a few golf courses.

2. What makes red sandstone red?

Millions of years ago the Red Rock Corridor was part of a ocean basin and when the Earth shifted and the basin was exposed to the atmosphere the deposits oxidized and turned red. When they turned into sandstone, the color remained.

3. Which part of the Corridor is the most visited by golfers?

The Corridor's southernmost edge is in Mesquite, NV and over the past 15 years the small city has become a premier resort golf oasis.

4. What are some of the best golf courses in Mesquite?

Two Arnold Palmer courses, The Palms Golf Club and The oasis Golf Club established Mesquite as a golf destination in the early 1990s. These two courses are the originals and are still very popular with locals and visitors.

A newer course that has created quite a stir itself is Wolf Creek at Paradise Canyon. Another of the new breed of courses in and around Las Vegas, Wolf Creek is second to none when it comes to conditions. It opened in 2000 to rave reviews and every hole is original and breathtaking. On the second hole, the tee box is 11 stories above the fairway. This is the type of design that defines Wolf Creek.

5. What else is there to do in the Red Rock Corridor?

Because it is in an area of such natural beauty, the Corridor is home to several state parks. Petrified rocks and deep maroon cliffs abound at Zion, Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon State Parks.
