Here's a look at six holes from the Golf Mesquite Nevada group that will have you saying "wow" and snapping off a couple of photos before teeing off. These holes will take your breath away as you survey golf architecture at its finest. But don't forget you still have to play the hole, so make sure to focus on the shot (the swing, not the photo).

  • CasaBlanca golf course - hole 11 CasaBlanca G.C. in Mesquite, Nev. mixes wetlands, desert surroundings

Don't bite off more than you can chew at CasaBlanca Golf Club in Mesquite. Smart play is a necessity here, though scoring opportunities abound. CasaBlanca appeals to all levels of golfers, writes Bill Bowman, but beware of its many challenges.

Golfers should be aware when golf courses have the word "Canyons" in their name, and the Canyons Course at Oasis Golf Club in Mesquite is no exception. The par-71, 6,408-yard layout may not be a long golf course, but it will force players to think before they swing - on every shot, Bill Bowman writes.

  • Wolf Creek Golf Club Mesquite stays true to its reasonable roots in trying to break from Vegas' golf shadow

First-time visitors to Mesquite are usually struck by how different it is from Vegas. Mesquite's casinos are more old-school than those in Sin City. The mistake is equating Mesquite's casinos with its golf courses. Wolf Creek is as showstopping and original a course as you'll find anywhere. There is also an Arnold Palmer course, a course that takes advantage of the Virgin River to give it some bite and a track that's has you weaving through canyons on a lower lying level than Wolf Creek.

  • No. 7 at Oasis Golf Club With five golf courses, Mesquite, Nevada breaks out of Vegas' shadow

Rising from the dust of the Virgin River Valley just north of Las Vegas is a golfing destination poised to take its place on golf's treasure maps. It is a town of 15,000 people, 300 annual days of sunshine and five championship courses. Labeled by some as Sin City's "little brother", Mesquite's quaint, less flashy town resembles little of the big ticket up the road. Rather, it offers what Vegas can't: a scenic, natural, small town atmosphere.

  • Oasis Resort Hotel Si Redd's Oasis Resort Hotel / Casino / Spa

My golfing partner and I recently had the opportunity to shed our snow parkas and play golf in the warm desert climate of Mesquite, Nevada. While in Mesquite, we stayed at Si Redd's Oasis Resort, and were hosted by Elaine Bisignano, Assistant Director of Marketing for the resort. We had the honor to meet Alan Green, president of the company, and his lovely wife Sherry, who is the daughter of the owner, Si Redd. In a few hours of pleasant conversation we were able to learn a lot of the history about the resort and the beginnings of the tourist industry in Mesquite.
