Las Vegas Paiute Resort:
An Oasis in the Desert?
By
Tanner Nolan, Staff Writer
Set amongst the Spring and Sheep Mountain ranges is an oasis in the
desert. The Las Vegas Paiute Resort
should be set apart from the rest. This
resort offers everything from service to challenging courses. Upon arriving
at the resort you will be greeted by attendants who will tend to your
clubs and get you started in the right direction. This staff is committed
to making your golf experience a memorable one. The memories that I
had of this staff was one of relaxation, maybe a little too relaxed.
The
Snow Mountain Course was outstanding. The actual course was in the
best condition that I have ever seen. The greens where fierce and the
roughs were unforgiving. The fairways were peppered with fairway bunkers,
but were wide and forgiving. The only downfall that I could find with
this course was the lack of interest on the back nine. The back nine
was relatively easy compared to the front nine with similar distances
and hole designs.
The front nine was long and challenging. Hole number 3 is a 557 yard
par 5 that demands a long tee shot in order to have a chance to go for
the green in two. The smart play will be a lay-up because of water guarding
the front of the green I learned that the hard way. This is truly a
spectacular hole that will gain your respect.
The following hole is not one to catch your breath on either. This
is a 180 yard par
3 that will test even the most accurate iron players. With water
lined on the left, a fade or slice with leave you wet and in the drop
zone. The 180-yard carry challenges your nerves and gives you a sense
of accomplishment if you are lucky enough to reach the green.
The bright spot on the back nine was the finishing hole. This 445 yard
par 4
is guarded to the left with water so this will demand a accurate tee
shot. That is not the problem, the problem is your second shot where
you will need to carry a 175 yards over water to reach the green. This
is truly a challenging hole to end your round.
The
Las Vegas Paiute Resort offers service and a relaxing round of golf
that you will enjoy. This course will appeal to all handicaps with relatively
easy holes with great views of the Spring and Sheep Mountains. If you
are looking for the best-maintained course in Las Vegas you need to
hit the Las Vegas Paiute Resort.
