Silverstone Golf Club

Located just 20 minutes or so from the Las Vegas Strip, Silverstone Golf Club offers golfers three nine-hole layouts plus a 28th hole near the clubhouse that comes in handy for settling those on-course wagers if you're all even after regulation play.

"You always have people coming into the clubhouse after the round asking to play one more hole to settle a bet. Most places you can't accommodate them," Silverstone Director of Golf Ross McCullough said. "Here, we can."

The three golf courses at Silverstone Golf Club - the Mountain, Valley, and Desert - are all Bob Cupp designs. They feature lush ryegrass fairways and bentgrass greens, and awe-inspiring views of Sheep Mountain.

The highlight of the Mountain nine is the 653-yard third hole, the longest in Nevada. Bring a second (or third) golf ball with you to the tee here - this one doglegs sharply around a lake to a near-peninsula green. The Mountain ends with a nice little 616-yard par 5 where the new red desert really pops out. It makes for quite a scene.

Each of the other nines feature equally memorable, highlight par 5s. The Valley nine boasts a 631 yarder and the Desert a 627 yarder.

Silverstone makes a fine choice for group play, and the staff goes out of its way to keep golfers happy. There also is an on-site golf academy and the driving range and other practice facilities here are among the best in Las Vegas.
