The 18-hole course is the centerpiece of the latest master-planned Del Webb community, Aliante (Italian for soaring) opened in December 2003, and Panks landscaped it for immediate impact. The first nine holes wander through hundreds of pear trees and shrubs, while the back nine climbs through Mondale pines and purple locust trees. Virtually every hole on Aliante features groomed arroyo.

The front nine meanders through hundreds of pear trees and shrubs that frame many holes, while the back nine traverses numerous plantings of Mondale pines and purple locust trees with their bright color splashes. A running theme for the mostly-level course is a groomed arroyo on virtually every hole. An arroyo often runs along or across the Bermuda fairways, and sometimes cuts in front of or behind the tee boxes or Tiffeagle greens, which are small to medium - in the 6,000-square-foot range - with moderate to fairly severe undulation.

    I have played this course many times, but my most recent round on 5/4/13 was awful. The pro shop attendant was rude when I asked about the same 2 for 1 price my buddies had as I didn't have a partner. Also, the OB card is no longer offered here and she wouldn't cut me a break on that. A Resident rate of $59 is about $20 more than it should be.

    The course was in terrible shape. Sparse grass, Dead tee boxes. Greens that are mostly dirt and won't hold a thing. There are 40 other courses in town that are in better shape that cost less and don't have attitude.

    My first cart died after 7 holes and my next one barely made it back. We had to use the other cart to push it up some hills on the final holes.

    Will not go back.

    Nice course and nice people to deal with. Starter got us off early and had a very enjoyable round. Very playable.
