Boy oh boy, I was all set to write a blog hammering you for a self-serving "me me me" entry...then I read it. Nicely written, sadly accurate. I remember the fat boy as a 19-year old, mullett-wearing long drive champ at the NCAAs at Bermuda Run in 1986. Excellent quote on the differences between cultures; it's almost like taking the hobbits and dwarves from JRR Tokien and comparing them to the elves and wizards. I'll still write a blog one day disparaging and attacking you mercilessly...it's in my nature. BCOB (be careful of baldwin)

I haven't much cared for your posts so far, believing as I do that we need another liberal Democratic voice on this site like we need the proverbial extra hole in our heads.

That aside, this was a pretty interesting post. I'm definitely going to hunt op the book you referenced. It is hard to feel sorry for Big John, and sad to see so much raw talent go untapped.
